At present there is no formal coaching structure within the county. However this year county junior coaching is being undertaken by Ian Chappell and Malcolm Chappell. At present this is centred at Draycott as the predominance of juniors at this standard is in the north of the county.
It is hoped to develop additional centres at Burton LT&SC and Wolverhampton LT&SC to give complete geographic coverage of the county.
We need bigger squads to compete on a National basis so new juniors of the appropriate standard are welcomed. Please contact Ian or Malcolm.
From the county squads we encourage juniors to participate in the Mid-West Area coaching sessions and tournaments. It is hoped to have additional sessions in the county run by the Area Coach and / or the Area Director of Coaching.
Coaching is undertaken at several clubs although this is mainly at junior level. Limited adult coaching is available. It is advisable to contact the representative of the nearest club to ask for details or contact Malcolm Chappell.
Staffordshire Squash is keen to expand the coaching base within the county and openly encourages volunteers to gain a coaching qualification. Existing coaches are also encouraged to improve their qualification. It is hoped that the recently qualified coaches, after gaining suitable experience, will be able to start their own sections and help juniors to enjoy the exciting game of squash.
